The College of Education at Fort Hays State University recently conducted a workshop in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Education at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
The workshop was led by both Dr. Gary Andersen, FHSU assistant professor in the Advanced Education Programs Department, and Lizette Burkes, science education consultant for the KSDE.
“A Deeper Dive into the Three Dimensions of the NGSS” was designed to help give professionals a look at the Next Generation Science Standards and some of the most advanced work that is used by teachers to guide their teaching.
“The workshop provided approximately 60 teachers with a full day of exploring and applying the NGSS framework of disciplinary core ideas, practices of science and engineering and cross cutting concepts to teaching science,” said Maureen Mindrup, administrator in the FHSU College of Education.
