Two professors from the College of Education facilitated a recent panel discussion on “Developing Partnerships to Build K-6 Unified Programs” at Fort Hays State University.
Dr. Robert Bruce Scott, assistant professor of special education in the Department of Teacher Education, and Dr. Jacqueline Lubin, assistant professor of special education in the Department of Advanced Education Programs, worked with colleagues from FHSU and across the state.
K-6 Unified allows a new path for teachers across the state to incorporate special and general education into a four-year undergraduate program.
"Since the K-6 Unified standards were approved by the State Board of Education early last year," said Scott, "teacher preparation faculty at a number of our peer institutions have been grappling with the challenges of restructuring our curricula to merge objectives from special education with traditional elementary education objectives."
