FHSU students, faculty attend annual Mathematical Association of America meeting

Students and faculty from the Department of Mathematics at Fort Hays State University recently attended the Kansas Section of the Mathematical Association of America meeting.
The meeting, held at the Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, is attended by FHSU mathematics faculty and students every year.
“Presentations are given by other Kansas college and university faculty and students as well as presentations from FHSU faculty,” said Dr. Keith Dreiling, chair of the department.
Two FHSU student teams placed second and fifth against 10 teams from various Kansas colleges and universities in a mathematics competition at the meeting.
Students who placed second are Xinye Bao, Shenzhen, China, freshman; Mike Xiao, Shenzhen, China, sophomore; and Fernando Guzman; Hays sophomore.
Students who placed fifth are Tyler Bloom, Netawaka senior; Patrick Cook, Derby freshman; and Hoyoon Woo, Daejeon, South Korea, sophomore.
Faculty are listed alphabetically.

Bhoumik and Mitra presented “Power Domination on Circulant Graphs” and Riazi presented “Mathematics Stack Exchange” at the meeting.
