HAYS, Kan. – The Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Logan, has generously awarded Fort Hays State University's Department of Nursing a grant of $250,000 to purchase innovative learning technology.
The grant money has been used for the purchase of high-fidelity simulators, a fetal heart monitor, 20 Reality Works Babies, and a video recording system. High fidelity simulators include “Super Tory” a newborn mannequin, “Preemie Hal” a 24-week preemie, and “Pediatric Hal” a five-year old boy. The video recording learning systems will allow students to be recorded during simulation labs for future debriefing.
“We are thankful for the Dane G. Hansen Foundation's generosity,” said Dr. Jenny Manry, chair of the department of nursing, “The Department of Nursing is excited to educate future nurses with modern technology and this will ensure that our students have the confidence to enter practice”.
