HAYS, Kan. – Two Fort Hays State University faculty at Sias International University, Xinzheng, China, presented at the CamTESOL conference in Cambodia.
CamTESOL is the Cambodia branch of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, started in 2005, is one of the largest conferences that focuses on English language teaching in Asia.
Neil Mulka, lecturer of English, and Mary Huyck Mulka, lecturer of English, focused on mobile-assisted language learning in their presentation, “Get out your phones!: Moving MALL beyond the basics.”
“Our research showed that age is not the primary barrier for integrating cell phones into classroom instruction, rather it’s a lack of knowledge in how to use them in the classroom,” said Mulka.
Their presentation also featured some best practices in how to use smartphones within the classroom.
