HAYS, Kan. – A Fort Hays State University jazz quartet featuring three graduate students from China and an FHSU instructor will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.
Lei “Leo” Yan is on piano, Hu “Tiger” Zhao on guitar, Defeng “Dave” Zhang on bass, and Ken Windholz, FHSU instructor of psychology, on drums.
“This is an opportunity to hear our graduate students perform jazz music on a very high level,” said Brad Dawson, director of jazz studies. “They will be performing tunes from the great American songbook.”
“It is always a pleasure working with these great musicians,” Dawson said. “If you enjoy jazz music, you should come out and hear them play!”
