HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s Dr. Linda Feldstein, assistant professor of teacher education, recently presented at the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators annual conference in Topeka.
Teacher education candidates Kristen Heier, a senior from Grainfield (67737), and Mariela Estrada, a senior from Hays (67601), accompanied Feldstein to assist with the presentation.
Titled “Grading Practices and Reporting Learner Progress,” the presentation revolved around the use of equitable grading reforms in K-12 education.
Heier and Estrada were able to present to and interact with in-service teachers from around the state and attend the keynote speaker, Gerry Brooks, former elementary school principal at Liberty Elementary School, Lexington, Ky.
“They represented Fort Hays State so well during the conference proceedings and even got to meet Mr. Brooks himself,” said Feldstein. “Mariela and Kristen are both planning to student teach shortly and start their professional careers soon.”
