FHSU Faculty Publish Work in “Parents and Caregivers Across Cultures”
HAYS, Kan. – Two faculty from Fort Hays State University recently published a chapter in the Springer Publication book “Parents and Caregivers Across Cultures.” Dr. Ziwei Qi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, and Dr. Yuxiang Du, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies, co-authored the chapter titled “Chinese Parenting and the Collective Desirable Path through Sociopolitical Changes.”
Dr. Qi and Dr. Du examine the evolution of Chinese parenting styles in the People's Republic of China. A large shift in parenting styles occurred after the sociopolitical reform.
“A theoretical framework-Collective Desired Path (CDP) was introduced to explain the modern-day parenting philosophy in both a collectivistic and competitive society,” said Dr. Ziwei Qi.
