HAYS, Kan. – Nine incoming freshman students for the fall semester at Fort Hays State University have been selected for scholarships from the Rudd Foundation in Wichita.
Rudd Scholarship recipients are selected after a rigorous application process. Incoming, full-time, freshman Kansas students who qualify for Pell Grants are eligible to apply.
The scholarships cover any costs remaining after all other aid, grants and scholarships are applied to a student’s account. Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, supplies, and room and board. Preference is given to first-generation and underrepresented students.
Students who were selected for scholarships and chose to attend Fort Hays State are listed by hometown.
ABILENE (67410): Makenna McGivney, a 2020 graduate of Abilene High School, plans to major in biology (health professions).
COUNCIL GROVE (66856): Quintin Combes, a 2020 graduate of Lebo High School, plans to major in nursing.
ELLIS (67637): Clara Crawford, a 2020 graduate of Ellis High School, plans to major in early childhood unified education.
JENNINGS (67643): Taryn Fleckenstein, a 2020 graduate of Golden Plains High School, plans to major in nursing.
SALINA (67401): Kylee Kogler, a 2020 graduate of Southeast of Saline High School, plans to major in medical diagnostic imaging.
Kaylee Lovett, a 2020 graduate of Salina South High School, plans to major in nursing.
SMITH CENTER (66967): Kendra Maydew, a 2020 graduate of Smith Center High School, plans to major in finance.
TIPTON (67485): Erica Brummer, a 2020 graduate of Tipton Catholic High School, plans to major in health and human performance (exercise science).
WHEATON (66521): Laura Krohn, a 2020 graduate of Onaga High School, plans to major in biology (health professions).
Students who choose to attend Wichita State University or Emporia State University are also eligible.
