HAYS, Kan. – FHSU’s College of Health and Behavioral Sciences will host a showing of “Why,” presented by KU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, on Oct. 18, at Beach Schmidt Performing Arts Center. The film reinforces the importance of seeing and approaching Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias as a community with a focus on early detection.
Individuals featured in the film include those diagnosed with dementia, their family members, physicians, nurses, and researchers.
“’Why’ addresses the barriers in recognizing and addressing early cognitive changes as well as supporting a hopeful, empowered approach to moving forward,” said Dr. Jeff Briggs, Dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. “The more we all know about brain health, dementia, and Alzheimer’s, the better prepared we are in creating a supportive community.”
The film’s runtime is 37 minutes. Time will be provided afterward for questions and comments.
