The John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activities Day On April 12-16 we will celebrate scholarly research and creative activities at the transformative impact faculty-student collaboration can have. Research takes many forms within departments at FHSU, but the unifying concept is collaborative faculty-student work on a scholarly project with the goal of developing generalizable peer-reviewed work as a final product.
Schmidt Foundation Scholars Scholarship
Learn about the Schmidt Foundation's role in our community and the establishment of five new full-ride scholarships for FHSU students. The purpose of this scholarship is to support FHSU students, with preference given to students from Kansas and first-generation college students. Recipients have the opportunity to renew their scholarship for up to three additional years, if eligibility requirements continue to be met.

The New Accelerated MBA program
FHSU’s new accelerated Master of Business Administration program and the value of an MBA degree in today’s digital economy. Changes to FHSU’s MBA program include:
- 8-week core courses
- The potential to complete the MBA degree program in one year
- No GMAT/GRE requirement
- Only $350/credit hour
Program offerings include several concentration areas designed to meet your professional development needs, including accounting, corporate communication, digital marketing, finance, health care management, health and human performance/sports management, human resource management, information assurance, international business, leadership studies, management information systems, marketing, and tourism and hospitality management. FHSU also offers an MBA with no concentration.

FHSU's Nationally Ranked Financial Planning Competition Team
Learn about FHSU’s powerhouse financial planning competition team and why our students consistently compete and excel against teams from the biggest business schools in the nation. Sophomore Ethan Lang and senior Thomas Powell from Hays, along with Great Bend senior Alejo Villegas, competed as Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship entrants in the 2020 Financial Planning Association’s National Financial Planning Challenge. The trio placed fourth overall, led by a first-place finish in the quiz bowl portion of the finals. The Financial Planning Challenge is a national competition sponsored by the Financial Planning Association, Ameriprise Financial, and the CFP Board of Standards.

Dr. Stacy Smith predicts a strong rebound and significant COVID-19 related changes in how people travel and vacation are in the works. Tourism and Hospitality ranks in the top three industries in all 50 states. Possible careers for graduates of this program include cruise director, casino Manager, event planner, restaurant owner, meeting and convention manager.

FHSU Faculty to Lead Nationwide Initiative to Bring De-escalation Training to Law Enforcement
De-escalation training provides law enforcement professionals a way to better serve and protect. National De-escalation Training Center instruction is the first to include personality modeling using the DISC behavior assessment tool. The NDTC model employs traditional approaches augmented by the application of a personality assessment component that helps maximize effective communication and interaction with the subject and the avoidance of potential conflict escalation.
Criminal justice programs at FHSU prepare students for a rewarding career in law enforcement, corrections, or the legal system with innovative online and on-campus programs. We challenge students to learn the theory behind criminal justice practices that must adapt to rapidly accelerating change—at the local, state, national and global levels.
