Rhonda Weimer, received her MSW from the University of Kansas in 1993 with a concentration in Clinical Social Work. From 1993 through 2004 Rhonda worked as a Clinical Social Worker; first at Northeast Kansas Mental Health and Guidance Center (now known as the Guidance Center), and then through her private practice. She continues to maintain licensure in both Kansas and Missouri and serve as a clinical supervisor for candidates seeking advanced licensure. She also remains active working part time as a Military Family Life Counselor with active duty and National Guard troops to address pre and post deployment difficulties.
In 2002 Rhonda began teaching as an adjunct at the University of Missouri Kansas-City School of Social Work. She was appointed full time as a non-tenure track professor in 2005 serving both in the classroom and as an Interim Educational Program Coordinator until 2013.
From August 2013 to July 2015 Rhonda served as Assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at Park University. She left to work more closely with Veterans at the VA Medical Center as a case manager in the Homeless Program in Kansas City Mo, but has now returned to her love of teaching by joining the FHSU faculty.
As a successful Clinical Social Worker she brings diverse skills from psychotherapy practice, serving as the director of an HIV prevention education program, Case management at the VA Medical Center, and a residential facility staff member to the classroom. She has taught courses in utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the Foundation Practice sequence, the Advanced Practice sequence, the bridging course covering HBSE and Practice, Integrative Seminar and electives covering grief and loss, group work, and crisis intervention
