Call for Proposals
Fort Hays State University Department of Social Work is hosting the 49th Annual National Institute on Social Work and Human Services in Rural Areas: On the Road to Thriving Rural Communities
The conference aims to showcase diversity in rural America and provide social workers in rural areas with access to professional development resources through its presentations. Proposals related to the following topics are of particular interest:
- Opportunities and Challenges in a Changing Rural Economy
- Advocating for Rural Communities
- Demonstrating Rural Resilience
- Trends in Rural Mental Health and Substance Use, prevention, and treatment
- Recognizing and embracing diversity in rural areas including refugee and immigrant populations, religious groups, etc.
- Addressing Service Limitations in rural areas including accessibility, emergency management, lack of providers, etc
- Addressing Rural family and population trends including depopulation, aging, and flight of youth, child welfare, etc.
- Child Welfare Workforce Development and Retention Strategies
The conference is available for partipants to attend face to face or virtual, however all presenters must be attending face to face.
Accepted proposals can be submitted for publication in the Contemporary Rural Social Work Journal.
