Fort Hays State University faculty and graduate student scholars are passionate about scholarly endeavors and creative works across a wide range of academic interests. The outstanding work conducted at FHSU distinguishes our graduate students regionally, nationally, and internationally. Graduate students have a unique opportunity to take advantage of research, scholarly, and professional development at the highest level.
FHSU provides an array of opportunities to be involved with pursuing, conducting, and showcasing graduate research. Importance of pursuing research as a graduate student
Many students find graduate research to be a continued challenge and enjoy the process. There are several benefits to engaging in graduate research such as:
- The graduate research process leads to further refining of skills such as project management, thinking independently, creative problem solving, and communication.
- Scholarly activity is an important component of academic work, pursuing research allows graduate students to get an early start on this work and further understand academia.
- Transferable skills improved upon throughout the research process are in high demand in the job field and will allow graduate students to become more marketable and demonstrate career readiness to potential employers.
- Through dissemination of research, there may be opportunities to network with future mentors, colleagues, and employers.
