The FHSU Department of Geosciences has had some exceptional faculty members and instructors who have retired over the years. We honor their commitment to FHSU and to the broad study of earth sciences below.
Several have also passed away in recent years, their contributions to our department have not been forgotten and they shall remain on our listing in memorium.

Dr. Millhollen was a professor in Geosciences at FHSU for 26 years before retiring on May 14, 2004. On retirement his stated retirement plans were to move to Eugene, Oregon to live in a stress-free environment while continuing to do scholarly activities. During his time as a Professor at Fort Hays State University, he served on many committees and touched the lives of many students within the classroom setting, as an advisor and in normal conversation.

Dr. John Ratzlaff

Dr. John Ratzlaff passed away on November 27, 2023.
Dr. Ratzlaff was a professor in Geosciences at FHSU for 26 years before retiring in May 2003. On retirement his stated retirement plans were to allow himself more time to read, hike, and in general enjoy the wonders of the world around him.
