FHSU Mathematics and Computer Science graduates - out in the world
Teresa Detweiler (2004)
Instructor of Mathematics
Kansas State University
Salina, KS
I have taught math classes at K-State Salina since 2007. I teach a range of classes from Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, to Calculus. I am starting up a beginning math class for those who aren't prepared for math at the college level, and will host a "Cooking with Math" camp for grade school girls. I participated in many extracurricular activities at FHSU. The most recognizable, as well as influential activities, in my opinion, were being a member (and captain) of the cheer squad and Mortar Board. These activities have helped me be a well-rounded person. I now understand that being involved in the community and helping those in need outside the classroom is just as important as being a good teacher inside the classroom. Also, I developed the skills that are necessary to become a good leader, which is necessary to take control and develop the minds that I influence every day.
Michael J. Wahlmeier (2006)

Washburn Rural High School

I currently am teaching AP Calculus BC, AP Calculus AB and Geometry. I also coach Freshman Girls' Basketball. I apply the techniques and methods I gained at FHSU every day. I did my Student Teaching in the spring of 2006 at Washburn Rural High School. My education at FHSU completely prepared me to begin my career.
