Camps, Festivals, and Workshops
FHSU Music and Theatre offers a variety of camps, workshops, and festivals for high school musicians and music programs, all designed to support aspiring music students, support music education and strengthen our shared commitment to music in the public schools and in our communities.
High Plains Music Camp
Since its founding in 1947 by the late Harold G. Palmer, thousands of students have attended High Plains Music Camp. Over seventy-five years later, the camp continues to offer students the opportunity to study with outstanding musicians from across the country. Campers experience a week of stimulating, concentrated study with nationally recognized musicians, teachers, and conductors. Performances, concerts, as well as recreational and social camp life make the week an event worth repeating year after year.
High Plains Marching Festival
The annual High Plains Marching Festival, held each October, gives high school band programs the opportunity to perform at Lewis Field Stadium, receive feedback from judges, and be recognized for their outstanding performances.
KMEA Learning Day
The FHSU KMEA District Learning Day, held in October, is available to all high school band and choir students who plan to audition for KMEA District Band or Choir. Registration is free! Join us to prepare for your best audition!
