Student Services
Academic Advising and Career Exploration - Academic Advising and Career Exploration is a connecting point for all Fort Hays State University students. At FHSU, we believe in the importance of academic advising, so each of our students has been assigned an advisor. An advisor is a faculty member or trained professional with whom students have the opportunity to meet with and talk to one-on-one about their academic program and career/life goals--but students need to take the initiative. The advisor helps plan a course of study and makes suggestions for program planning. They may help with investigating careers. An advisor may refer students to other faculty or offices for help.
Career Services - Your student has started their college career to ultimately land the job of their dreams. Career Services can help connect them with professionals in their desired career field. Encourage your student to utilize the resources in career services to keep up with industry trends in the job market and stay ahead of the competition. Make sure to check out the Calendar of Events for information on career fairs, on-campus interviews and more!
Student Accessibility Services - Was your student on an IEP in high school? Have they recently had surgery or broken an arm or leg? Are they taking online classes and have a documented disability? The Student Accessibility Services is here to help! Students can request accommodations for academic classes and receive academic support at Fort Hays State University. Accommodations and services are provided when they bring in the documentation of their disability. Please visit Student Accessibility Services pages on getting access, accommodations, and resources to learn about the services the Student Accessibility Services offers.
Financial Assistance - The Financial Assistance office is here to help students navigate the money issues involved with their college education. While administering federal, state and local financial assistance as well as scholarship programs, they will help students get the best financial package to finance their education at FHSU. With several staff members on duty, they are there to answer questions students or family members may have regarding university financial aid.
Registrar - The Registrar's Office is the "gatekeeper of the University." They are here to help students from the beginning through the end of their educational journey--from the admission application to the final degree check. They can assist with interpreting university policies and degree requirements, fulfill transcript requests or verify current registration for insurance purposes. Have a question about in-state residency requirements? Need a course description sent to another college? They are here to help. Our goal is to maintain the quality, accuracy, safekeeping, and confidentiality of the academic records of all current and former students.
