Senior Companion Benefits
Benefits to Volunteers:
- Tax free stipend to supplement your income (must meet income eligibility requirements)
- Transportation reimbursement to and from the service site
- Paid training, annual leave, sick leave, and holidays
- Accident and liability insurance while serving
- New friendships and personal satisfaction from helping others
This stipend does not count as income when determining eligibility for benefits including:
- Food stamps/Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Energy Assistance
- Subsidized housing
- Rent
- VA Pension
Benefits to Individuals Served:
- Companionship, personal support and friendship
- Assistance with daily activities
- Respite care for family caregivers
