Senior Companion Services
Senior Companions assist by:
- Being a good listener, providing companionship, individual attention, life review, reminiscing and grief support
- Providing respite care for family caregivers
- Assisting with meal planning and preparation, helping with light grocery shopping
- Assisting with personal cares such as dressing and grooming
- Monitoring medication, assisting with exercises and physical therapy
- Assisting with light household chores such as making the bed, doing dishes, taking out trash, helping with laundry
- Accompanying to doctor for treatment, to nutrition site, to recreational or social events
- Helping with correspondence such as writing letters, reading, filling out forms
- Giving encouragement by taking walks, exercising, participating in activities of interest the the client such as playing cards, games, hobbies and handiwork

Companions are not permitted to perform heavy housekeeping functions or services involving medical knowledge or attendant care.
