Name/E-Mail Address Change Information
To request a name/email address change: REVIEW the Name Change options below, then select an option and complete the required STEPS.
- Legal name change is required. Your official FHSU student and employment records (if currently employed) must be updated with your new name (follow instructions below).
- This option is the standard procedure for currently enrolled students, as processing does not require loss of access.
- TigerNetID display name will be updated. This changes how your name is displayed on Office 365 and on-campus Windows computers. You can change your own display name in Gmail by going to Settings > See all settings > Accounts tab > and clicking "edit info" next to “Send mail as”.
- E-mail address will be updated (using a standard format). An alias address reflecting your new name will be added to your email account, so you will be able to receive messages sent to your old address as well as the new one.
- TigerNetID username will not be changed. You will continue to log in using your current TigerNetID username and password. If you wish to have your TigerNetID username updated, select Option B below.
- We will notify you after the change has been completed to provide your new e-mail address.
1. Update your name on official FHSU student and employment records:
- Sign in to Workday, and then click Menu (in the top left corner) > Personal Information. Under Change, click Legal Name. Enter your full new legal name, attach supporting documentation (one of the following is required: a Driver's License, Social Security Card or Passport with your current name), and then click Submit. A request will be sent to the appropriate office(s) for approval.
- Update your FHSU employment record(s):
- Students: Contact the Student Employment Office in Sheridan Hall, Room 112 at (785) 628-5227.
- Faculty and Staff: Contact the Human Resource Office at (785) 628-4462.
2. Submit a Technology Support form to request the change:
Submit a Technology Support request form, including the required information below. Your New Legal Name must match the name on your official FHSU employee and/or student records. Preferred Names are subject to approval; display name will only be changed to match the preferred name in Workday. Please copy/paste the list below into the Description field of the request and add your responses.

- This option is the standard procedure for faculty and staff. If you prefer to keep your current TigerNetID username and update only your display name, select Option C (below).
- Processing requires loss of access for several hours. You will be contacted in advance to arrange a convenient time for processing.
- Email address and TigerNetID username will be updated (using a standard format). An alias address will be added to your e-mail account, so you will be able to receive messages sent to your old address as well as the new one.
- We will notify you after the change has been completed to provide your new TigerNetID username and e-mail address.

- Legal name change is not required. Leave ‘New Legal Name’ blank on the request form.
- Request is subject to approval.
- TigerNetID display name will be updated. This changes how your name is displayed on Office 365 and on-campus Windows computers. You can change your own display name in Gmail by going to Settings > See all settings > Accounts tab > and clicking "edit info" next to “Send mail as”.
- TigerNetID username and email address will not be changed.
- If an Email Alias (Option A) or TigerNetID/Email Address (Option B) change is desired, a new request can be submitted later, following a legal name change.

Sign in to Workday, and then click Menu (in the top left corner) > Personal Information. Under Change, click More, then click Preferred Name. Uncheck Use Legal name As Preferred Name, enter your new preferred name, and then click Submit.
2. Submit a Technology Support form to request the change:
After your Preferred Name has been approved/updated in Workday, submit a Technology Support request form, including the required information below. Display Name will only be changed to match the preferred name in Workday. Please copy/paste the list below into the Description field of the request and add your responses.

PLEASE NOTE: If the Options as described above do not meet your needs due to special circumstances, select the Option that most closely reflects the system changes you need, and include an explanation of your circumstances in the Description of the Technology Support request. Your request will be subject to approval.
