Save Money at Home
Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs) are abundant on the campus of FHSU. However, you also have opportunities to save money and think green in your own home.
Quick Tip:
One of the easiest ways to save money on your home heating and cooling bill is to adjust your thermostat at night while you are sleeping and during the day when you are away. Try adjusting your thermostat 10 degrees cooler in the winter and 10 degrees warmer in the summer. Daily adjustments for an eight-hour period can easily lower your utility bill by 10%. Better yet, buy a programmable thermostat to make the changes for you. You can program it so the temperature is comfortable before you get home from work or before you wake up in the morning. A $50 programmable thermostat will pay for itself with energy savings in the first year.
Please continue to look for other opportunities to reduce utility consumption in your work, study, living, recreation or learning space on campus.
