Energy Division
The Energy Division is responsible for the Akers Energy Center operation, two 900 kw peak-shaving generation units, 4160vac distribution system and the Staefa digital control system used in over 95% of the university buildings. Since 2005 this division has saved the university more than $700,000 in energy costs with an average annual savings of approximately $200,000. It is our mission to reduce energy costs through efficient use of schedules, customer training and accurate control of equipment.
Energy conservation efforts are required of all faculty, staff and students to reduce the university's energy demand and associated costs. Please be mindful of ways that you can reduce energy consumption. The following tips may assist you in lowering utility costs both at work and at home:
