Master of Professional Studies in Gerontology
This program is designed to assist the individual in developing the skills necessary to deal with the complex issues surrounding the growing population of older adults in our society. The program provides the individual with the skill set necessary to identify and understand emerging and existing issues related to aging, analyze options for addressing these issues, and locate the necessary resources to deal with them.
Admissions Requirements
- An official bachelor's degree transcript from a regionally accredited institution.
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher on the last 60 undergraduate hours.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A personal statement discussing, but not limited to, the following:
- Your reasons for seeking a master's degree in gerontology.
- Your previous exposure to, and interest in, the field of gerontology.
- How this degree will contribute to your personal and professional goals.
- Your ability to complete graduate-level coursework.

- HHP 617 - Nutrition and Aging
- SOCW 620 - Spirituality and Aging
- SOC 644 - Sociology of Aging
- All electives must be approved by the student's advisor.
- HHP 873 - Culminating Experience/Internship
