Summative assessment is a comprehensive examination of learning outcomes that occurs at the end of professional preparation. The summative assessment presented includes the number and percentage of graduate students who (a) pass the PRAXIS Examination, (b) complete the program, and (c) are employed within the field upon graduation.
The Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) requires several benchmarks that programs must meet in order to maintain accreditation. The CAA sets a benchmark target for a 3-year average of 80% for passing the PRAXIS (Table 1) and program completion (Table 2). Employment rates are not required to be displayed by the CAA, but are included (Table 3).
