- The Marcia Bannister Fund for Excellence will benefit the Department of Communication Disorders through faculty and staff development, graduate student scholarships and assistantships, and will help expand services of the Geneva Herndon Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic

Faculty Accomplishments
- Spring 2025: Dr. Blake Roth was awarded an Undergraduate Research Experience Grant for “Exploring Sound Intensity Levels in Dance Studios: A Study on Acoustic Environments and Their Impact.”
- Fall 2024: Dr. Ran An awarded Experiential-Learning Innovation Grant for "Practices of school speech-language pathologists working with students with autism spectrum disorder."
- Summer 2024: Dr. Blake Roth earned the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE), awarded to individuals for their exceptional commitment to lifelong learning through earning 70 hours of continuing education.
- Spring 2024: Dr. Blake Roth was awarded the Faculty Summer Grant for Research, Creative or Grants Activity for "A Comparison of Student Outcomes in On Campus and Online Sections of an Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech-Hearing Mechanism Course.”
- Spring 2024: Dr. Ran An awarded the Faculty Summer Grant for Research, Creative or Grants Activity for "Voices unveiled: Exploring intersectionality of age, gender, and stuttering in young women's lives through exploratory mixed methods."
Student Accomplishments
- Fall 2023: Emily Peaney, Jordan Parker, Anne Stukey, and Abigail Wallace won the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Knowledge Bowl at both the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA) conference and the annual American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) conference.
- Spring 2023: Kendra Lujan, Katie Geerdes, Madalyn Morelock and faculty advisor Dr. Ran An, were awarded the Graduate Scholarly Experience Grant for "Knowledge of speech-language pathology among Hispanic and the general community"
