CPL Acceptance Appeal
Students for whom CPL would be denied under these policies may appeal to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs for permission to attempt the CPL. Students are encouraged to contact the CPL coordinator at CPL@fhsu.edu to confirm they are indeed restricted and help in filing the appeal. Students will be responsible for submitting an email noting that they are unable to receive CPL due to the specific CPL policy, and an explanation of why they should receive an exception to the policy.
The following are a few examples of the type of information needed:
For students who have failed a course previously (or do not have a program required minimum grade). They should note when, where, and possibly why they failed, but the focus should be on the time since they failed the course and what has happened since taking the course to provide the knowledge/competencies that are learned in the course. Unless specific training is involved, it is expected a significant time period will have elapsed since they attempted the course to allow for the learning to take place.
Students who are not currently in a degree program or who wish to request CPL that doesn’t not contribute towards the degree should address the educational connection to FHSU and the personal, educational, or career goals that would be fulfilled by the desired CPL.
