Case Management Services
Case management services empower students to address and overcome barriers to achieve educational and personal goals at FHSU. Some students may experience unique challenges in which they would benefit from individualized support and connection. These challenges include navigating college without the support of loved ones, being financially or food insecure, being homeless, growing up in the foster care system, or transitioning back to campus after a hospitalization, absence, or difficult life circumstance.
A case manager will help students find creative solutions, identify campus and community resources, and advocate for students in order to help them achieve an optimal level of wellness.
Food and Hunger Initiatives
The Food and Hunger Initiatives program includes both the Tiger Pantry and Victor E. Garden.
The Tiger Pantry is located in the Chestnut Room of the Memorial Union. It provides an easy, safe, supportive, and educational environment in which students, faculty, and staff can readily access free food, personal hygiene items, and various household cleaning supplies.
The Victor E. Garden provides a campus/community garden experience to enhance gardening knowledge and skill, and to provide healthy produce for members of the campus community. Produce from the garden is available to members of the FHSU community through the Tiger Pantry. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni are welcome to volunteer with the Food and Hunger Initiatives. For more information, to donate, or to volunteer, please email Bob Duffy.
Student Emergency Assistance Fund
Emergency situations or unexpected circumstances can leave students with financial difficulties that affect their personal and academic lives. The Student Emergency Assistance Fund provides temporary and immediate financial assistance to registered FHSU students who have demonstrated an urgent need in which they have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance.
Students may only receive emergency funds once per academic year, and may expect to receive a gift of approximately $100 or less if approved. All student information will remain confidential throughout this process.
Students in need of emergency funds should contact Health and Wellness Services.
