Meet the October 2019 Student of the Month
ON CAMPUS STUDENT: QUINN MUNK
Originally from Salina, Kansas, Quinn Munk is a junior at FHSU majoring in Organizational Leadership with a certificate in Women and Gender Studies. On campus, she is involved in the sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Christian Challenge, and is an Ambassador for Fraternity and Sorority life. Outside of school, Quinn enjoys hanging out with her friends and binge watching the TV show Friends. Originally, Quinn chose Organizational Leadership as her major just for the sake of declaring a major. She decided to stay because she “fell in love with the classes and content.” Quinn realized Leadership was a major she could use in everyday life to help her grow and become even more passionate about the organizations she is working with. “I absolutely love every time I walk into my classes, being greeted by the awesome professors, talking to the most welcoming faculty, and being surrounded by the most supportive community.” Thus far, Quinn’s favorite leadership class has been Leadership and Personal Development with Dr. Christie Brungardt. She enjoyed it because she was able to look inside herself and how she thinks and feels towards others. Quinn also learned how others think as well which gave her opportunities to improve relationships with her friends and peers. Congratulations, Quinn!
VIRTUAL STUDENT: CRAIG DILBECK
Craig Dilbeck, from Hutchinson, Kansas, is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. He is also working towards a Master of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership through the accelerated program. As a non-traditional, virtual student, Craig said he chose to become involved in Leadership Studies “to grow personally and professionally, to improve the organizations I influence, and achieve a goal over 20 years in the making.” He has had his fair share of toxic leadership and he saw how leadership can hold everything together or drive it apart. The program challenges him academically and individually to become more experienced and qualified as a leader. Craig could not pick just one leadership class as his favorite. He enjoyed Leadership and Team Dynamics because leadership happens in collaborative environments that mutually benefit the leaders and followers, Principles of Organizational Leadership because it reinforced what he previously learned and introduced new, practical components, and finally, Leadership and Personal Development because leadership is about internal change too, not just external change. Craig works at National Credit Adjusters, LLC as an inventory strategy analyst and is the Senior Pastor at Victorious Life Church. He is a former foster parent and became an adoptive parent. Craig’s hobbies include playing guitar, maintaining his family’s above ground pool, and attending the activities of his three children, such as marching band competitions, volleyball, basketball, softball, and soccer. Congratulations, Craig!
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT: BELINDA SHI
Belinda Shi grew up in Shenyang and is currently a sophomore attending SNU. She is majoring in International Finance and is also working towards an Organizational Leadership degree. As a student, Belinda is involved in her school’s debate club. After classes, she spends time tutoring other students in various classes. Outside of school, Belinda enjoys spending her time reading books, watching musicals, and occasionally drawing pictures. She chose to become involved in Leadership Programs because it is a subject that can be used in so many different areas which made her want to learn more about it. Belinda’s current class, Introduction to Leadership Concepts, has become her favorite course and has made her very interested in leadership. Her professor, Ms. Pandora Rupert, teaches the new content and concepts so that it is easily understandable to students. Belinda also says Ms. Pandora Rupert is able to keep the student’s attention, so it makes class more enjoyable. Congratulations, Belinda!
