Library Services for Faculty and Students Teaching and Learning in China
With a TigerNetID, faculty and students teaching and learning in China have access to electronic library services and resources from anywhere in the world.
Using the Library
More than 78% of the library’s resources are available electronically from anywhere in the world. Use search.library.fhsu.edu as an alternative to the library homepage for faster loading times and to search directly in the library's catalog. Apply the "Full Text Online" filter to show only resources that are available electronically.
While the library catalog includes some resources housed within the research databases, you can often find more relevant resources by searching directly within a specific research database.Need a book or article that Forsyth Library doesn't have? While we can't mail physical materials abroad to our cross-border partners, we can email you articles, document delivery (PDF scans of up to 50 pages from books on Forsyth Library shelves), and e-book chapters if you create an interlibrary loan account and submit a request.
Research Help is available through a contact form, live chat, email, or a scheduled Zoom appointment.
Due to the time zone difference, the best way to contact Forsyth Library for Research Help is the contact form on the Chinese/English Library Guide. Our system has been known to flag @qq.com and @163.com email addresses as spam, so if you have a different email address (that does not include @qq.com or @163.com), please use that when contacting Forsyth Library.
For Your Teaching & Learning
Library instruction is a beneficial supplement to teach students how to use the library. Librarians can teach your students the essential skills needed to successfully complete research-based assignments and projects. Use the Instruction Request form to describe your needs. Below are some of the many options for incorporating library instruction:
- Asynchronous – Collaborate with librarians to have videos, course guides, tutorials, or Blackboard modules created for reinforcing research practices and building information literacy skills.
- Synchronous – Schedule an instruction session via Zoom to have a librarian visit with your students virtually.
Several bilingual tutorials have been created to teach research and information literacy skills abroad. These can easily be integrated into Blackboard courses or sent directly to students.
- The Chinese/English Library Guide features bilingual text and videos to provide information about how to search the library, cite sources, and avoid plagiarism.
- Chinese/English tutorial videos provide bilingual voiceovers to help students learn how to use the library and how to avoid plagiarism.
- Interactive Chinese/English APA citation games guide students through the citation process and provide several practice examples. At the end of the tutorial, students receive a certificate of completion to allow for simple grading.
- A self-paced bilingual tutorial for the UNIV 105 curriculum at Sias is available in the Master Blackboard shell for the course. These tutorials would also be beneficial to use in other Sias and SNU courses that have a research-based assignment. Please contact refserv@fhsu.edu to request a copy of this Blackboard module.
Need a different tutorial? Browse our collection of library tutorials (in English) or contact your liaison to have a tutorial or guide created and customized to fit your needs.
For Your Scholarship
If you have questions about the scholarly publishing process and author's agreements, using copyrighted materials for your course, or revising or supplementing open educational resources, you can ask the Scholarly Communications team for advice.
Increase the reach of your published scholarly works. Have your Curriculum Vitae (CV) analyzed for eligible works to add to the FHSU Scholars Repository and provide a pre-print or post-print open access copy to researchers around the world. Learn more about submitting to the FHSU Scholars Repository.
Have you recently published an article, book chapter, or book? Fill out the Scholarly News form to share your accomplishment with Fort Hays State University. Submissions are shared with Forsyth Library and University Communications to promote your work across a variety of institutional communication channels.
