Library Services for Online Students
With a TigerNetID, FHSU Online students have access to electronic library services and resources from anywhere in the world.
Using the Library
More than 75% of the library’s resources are available electronically from anywhere in the world. Use the the library catalog to search for resources. Apply the "Full Text Online" filter to show only resources that are available electronically.
While the library catalog includes some resources housed within the research databases, you can often find more relevant resources by searching directly within a specific research database.
Need a book or article that Forsyth Library doesn't have? If you create an interlibrary loan account, we can email you articles, document delivery (PDF scans of up to 50 pages from books on Forsyth Library shelves), and e-book chapters that you request through interlibrary loan.
As an online student, you can also use interlibrary loan to request physical items (from Forsyth Library or lending libraries) to be mailed directly to you. The address you use to create your interlibrary loan account (ILLiad) will be the mailing address used to deliver any physical materials. Physical items will be mailed to your personal address at no cost, but you are responsible for paying return shipping back to Forsyth Library. Each item you receive will come with a return label as well as a letter explaining the return process. You can return items one at a time or return multiple items in one box, as long as all items are back by the due date. Returns can be mailed via UPS, USPS or FedEx.
Special Collections curates and provides access to unique materials around the themes of Classic Children's Literature, Ethnic Studies (local history), Great Plains Research (regional history), Military History, Rare Books, and University Archives (university history).
Some of these unique materials have been digitized and are available to access from anywhere in the world. View and download the digitized primary source materials in "Forsyth Digital Collections" or "Archives Online" on the FHSU Scholars Repository.
You can also search the finding aids and schedule a Zoom appointment with Special Collections and Archives staff to virtually view physical materials.
For Your Classes
We've created several tutorials to expand your research and information literacy skills and save time when working on research-based assignments.
- Library tutorials are quick instructional tools you can explore to learn about the library, how to use Forsyth Library specifically, how to build research skills, and how to write academically and cite sources.
- Interactive APA citation games guide you through the citation process while working through several examples.
