On-Campus Undergraduate Psychology Program

The FHSU Department of Psychology has a long history of excellence in preparing undergraduate students for entry into competitive graduate programs in clinical, school, and various areas of experimental psychology, as well as helping students into entry level careers in the mental health field.

The Department of Psychology offers two undergraduate degree options - the Bachelor of Science and the Bachelor of Arts. Both of these degrees are offered virtually and on-campus.

Although the American Psychological Association (APA) does not offer accreditation for undergraduate programs, our courses are structured to meet the learning outcomes set forth by the APA.

Recommended Course Sequence

The faculty in the Department of Psychology have put considerable thought into recommending the following sequence of courses. In our expereince, students who take courses in this order maximize their chances of success. PSY 100 (General Psychology) serves as a prerequisite for all of our courses. Next, we recommend students take PSY 101 and PSY 201, followed by PSY 480, then PSY 498 and PSY 668. The psychology electives, and other content courses (300, 334, 340, and 400) can be taken at any time throughout your college career after you complete PSY 100.
